Modern Flooring

When deciding on modern flooring for your home, the options can be overwhelming. The material, the color, the size of the plank, the installation, the quality, the price -- it’s a lot to take into consideration.

There are hardwoods, ceramic tile, laminate, linoleum, carpet, stone, glass, cork, bamboo… so many to choose from! There are pros and cons to each of these, but the final decision rests completely on your tastes and lifestyle.

When we first started building our apartment, I thought that the floor would be one of the easiest things to pick out. First of all, we only had 600 square feet to cover -- that had to mean it wouldn’t cost much at all.

Unfortunately, the floor that I fell in love with was. . . $15 a square foot! It was disappointing, as I knew that we couldn’t afford to spend $9,000 on our floor.

So I continued to search for the perfect floor that was also the perfect price. I thought the day would never come when I found a floor that I loved as much as the first… but to my surprise, as I was searching online at work one day, I found a floor that took my breath away.

It was so unique… and it was so me. I felt like I did the day I found my wedding dress. And as cheesy as this love story is becoming, the floor was perfect. It was everything I wanted at a perfect price -- $1.79 a square foot.

The two floors I wanted were completely different, and for me the decision was largely based on aesthetics; however, practicality should also play a role in your quest for the perfect floor.

Do some research. There are links to the different types of modern flooring on this website. Those pages should give you some idea of which floor will be right for you.
